Done with time to spare!

Usually I don't post  what I have entered until the jury has made its decision.
But this time I worked for so many hours to get this done, photographed and sent into the jury - all while juggling customers and students and bills and orders.
I'm rewarding myself with.......Here it is the finished piece!
Hope you like her - hope they like her. I do

Wow April is almost gone

I keep asking that question in this blog. Where did the time go?
I know time flies when you are having fun but I didn't realize I was having that much fun!
Taxes are not fun I know I did those since the last post. I have been having fun with the Fiesta open torches and the Berries class this week. I'm working hard to get a pendant finished and photographed for the ISGB pendant show. The beads are done now I have to get her put together.

You can tell from the quality of my photos the camera is on it's last leg. It still takes some good pictures but a new camera is on the wish list. I will miss this on it is a Kodak EasyShare a really old one. It was so easy to use and it took some really nice pictures but with all things made of plastic "stuff" Breaks and the toggle that controls everything no longer works and it doesn't recognize the card anymore so I can take exactly 11 pictures and can not change the settings. Now aren't you glad I share that!

I have been working on flowers of all kinds. There are 2 classes I am teaching here at Dream Fire Glass Studio you might want to take if these flower beads are what you want to make.
Sculptural Flowers- May 26

Encased Florals May 27
In this class you will learn to make floral cane and use it to make the flowers on the outside and the inside of a bead

Fresh out of the Kiln edtion 2

Last night was Fiery Friday. We had a good crowd and I got a little torch time myself.
I know I only made a few but every bead counts!
Simple surface decorated floral bead on black slim and elegant.

An Encased floral bead (that flower in the middle is encased deep in the bead) with more flowers on the surface.

Another Sugar Skull - Pink Rose's and all- she's kind of cheeky wouldn't you say?

Fresh out of the Kiln

Yesterday was open torch at the studio so I took advantage of the torches being fired up and sat down to make a few things myself.
I do love making the Dia de los Muertos sugar skulls. I get to sculpt in the flame, use my murrini and decorate the heck out of them with flowers. You can't look at them without smiling they truly are the grateful dead. Even though the day of the dead is in November these skulls full of flowers just makes you think spring. OK so maybe I'm a bit twisted.

The other beads I got done are for the Red, White and Blue mass bead exchange. which will be tonight at the SALSA( Society of Artisan Lampworkers in San Antonio) meeting. I finished my 12 beads I hope everyone likes them.

Fiesta is coming!

Fiesta is just around the corner here in San Antonio. It is time to start decorating your front door with a big bright Fiesta wreath. Get those bright bold clothes out of the back of the closet. Make sure your Fiesta hat is covered in colorful streamers, flowers, medals and what ever floats your boat. Hee Hee - floats your boat get it?( We have a River Parade where else do you have a parade on a river?)

This last Saturday at Dream Fire Glass we prepared for San Antonio's annual celebration by making Fiesta beads. We make Star pinatas, Whirling Flamenco skirts and some flower garland beads. The little girls wear the paper flower garlands as crowns.
Here are some of the lovely beads we made in class

I also taught this class at Glass Craft Expo in Vegas and the students made equally lovely beads I just didn't get any pictures to post.

Viva Fiesta!

Finally

Finally posting!
After teaching at Glass Craft Expo in Las Vegas I was one tired puppy.
I don't know how Nicole was able to post and do all the work she did helping two instructors.

Classes were great. All my students were wonderful. I didn't get any pictures really so sadly there are none in this post.

Another thing I have finally gotten around to is my 2012 murrini. It is about time!

I think they turned out pretty good.
I really love making murrini. Good thing as I will be teaching at the ISGB Gathering in Bellevue/Seattle this July and the class involves designing and creating small murrini. More on that later
